Parts of Lakewood have zoning restrictions. There is one Conservation District (one of the oldest in Dallas) and two Neighborhood Stabilization Overlays (NSOs).

Neighborhood Stabilization Overlays

Lakewood's two NSOs are the Neighorhood Stabilization Overlay District No. 3 (Lakewood/North Ridge Estates) (the more northeast Overlay on the map) and the Neighborhood Stabilization Overlay District No. 4 (Vanderbilt/Marquita) (the more southwest Overlay on the map).
